Former Juventus coach Max Allegri was spotted in the stands at San Siro, chatting intently to Napoli staff members afterthe 1-1 draw with Milan.
The tactician’s presence at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for last night’s Serie A match did not go unnoticed.
Video also circulated after the game of Allegri listening intently to Napoli press officer Guido Baldari.
This sparked speculation that Allegri could be lined up as a potential replacement should Carlo Ancelotti be sacked or even resign.
Napoli are in crisis, with a series of poor results and above all in-fighting that has seen President Aurelio De Laurentiis freeze their wages for October.
It’s the precursor to a fine of up to 25 per cent of their salary as punishment for refusing to enter a training retreat.
Allegri has been out of work since parting company with Juventus in June, but the jobs he had been linked with – at Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich – do not seem to be options now.
There is still Arsenal and potentially Manchester United, but if he were to remain in Italy, then Napoli would be an intriguing destination.
