Zvonimir Boban admits Zlatan Ibrahimovic could “steer Milan in the right direction” as the striker is “unique, different to the others.”
Ibrahimovic been linked with a return to San Siro and Boban – in his role as Milan director – did nothing to stop the speculation, instead expressing only praise for the Swede.
“We will see how the next matches will go,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.
“Ibra is different to the others, he’s unique, someone who can give you so much. We’ll see what happens.
“Even if he’s not 28 anymore, he’s still a player with an extreme character and personality. He can steer the whole club in the right direction.”
The Rossoneri celebrated 120 years of existence last night, but Boban reiterated it would take time to bring back the club to the same heights as the ones represented by his fellow heroes.
“The fans have been wondering when we will see the great Milan again. Unfortunately, it takes a long time.
“First, we must return to be a competitive team. Then, it’s hard to say when Milan will return.
“The Milan of [former President Silvio] Berlusconi has only been there once in 120 years.
“It’s allowed to dream and to have these ambitions, we must always think big. But we must take one step at a time.”
Carlo Ancelotti is currently without a club following his dismissal from Napoli, but the Croat assured he and the rest of the board was “happy” with Stefano Pioli.
“[Technical director Paolo] Maldini said something right and true, that there’s harmony between the coach, club and players.
“He arrived at a very difficult time, but in a short time, he understood so many things. We are very happy with his work.
“Milan is Ancelotti’s home. But right now, to associate Ancelotti’s name with Milan, I find it inappropriate.”
