Maurizio Sarri reportedly decided to leave Chelsea in March, when fans called for his head during a Premier League match against Cardiff City.
According to The Sun, which runs the story as an exclusive, Sarri ‘reached breaking point’ after Chelsea’s 2-1 win at Cardiff on March 31.
The newspaper explains the ‘final straw’ came when supporters chanted ‘Sarri out’ and ‘f*** Sarriball’ after the Welsh side went ahead.
The Blues eventually won 2-1 but not without controversy as Cesar Azpilicueta equalised from an offside position.
The former Napoli boss has agreed to become Juventus’ next Coach, but his appointment will not be formalised until the Londoners secure a replacement.
BBC Sport has since reported that Chelsea must pay Derby County ‘around £4m’ (€4.5m) to land top target Frank Lampard.
