Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said the “top two” are decided already but expects a “completely open” fight for top four between a host of teams.
Atalanta hit back after the 3-1 loss to Juventus with two consecutive victories, in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb and in Serie A against Brescia last weekend.
The Dea are currently sixth in the League and five points behind third-placed Lazio. Now, Gasperini expects the fight for Champions League to go on until the end of the season.
“I believe the League is not yet defined,” he told Radio Rai. “Apart from the top two places, this Serie A is still completely open.
“Roma are growing, and Lazio have accomplished a lot.
“Cagliari are the real big surprise. Then you have Napoli, Milan, Torino and Fiorentina, who can climb up and steal points from everyone.”
Atalanta are preparing to face Hellas Verona in the League on Saturday and would be lucky to have Duvan Zapata back in time.
The Colombian will return to the training ground tomorrow, but he might still have to wait until the decisive Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk next week.
