Udinese coach Luca Gotti foundtheir 2-0 home defeat to Inter“difficult to swallow when thinking back to the chances we had.”
The Friulani arguably had the better of the first half, but were undone by a six-minute Romelu Lukaku brace, including a penalty for Juan Musso’s foul on Alexis Sanchez.
“Perhaps the defender could’ve closed a little tighter, but there were a lot of ricochets that fell kindly for Inter with incidents that changed the game. When thinking back to the chances we had, it’s really disappointing.
“It is difficult to swallow this result. I saw the right attitude from the team, we tried to play the game we intended to, but if you don’t score when you have the opportunities against sides like Inter, you’re not going to get very far.”
Gotti has said repeatedly he does not want to be the head coach for Udinese, although the club is not looking for a replacement.
“The important thing is that the players are happy. If anything, I just have to deal with the issues it creates for me.
“This is the third game we’ve played well and ended up with zero points. Ken Sema struggled a little at the start with Victor Moses, but with help from Seko Fofana, began to turn it around and cause problems for Moses instead.
“I feel Fofana has the quality to play in the Champions League, but he needs to always keep up that level of consistency and determination.
“Our forwards worked to help defensively for 90 minutes, we kept pushing to get a goal right to the end. If we play like this in future, I think we’ll go far.”
