Lorenzo Insigne admits “it wasn’t our best performance, but the refusal to give up is in our DNA” afterItaly’s comeback victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The Napoli captain was decisive after an Edin Dzeko opener, scoring a sensational volley and providing the assist for Marco Verratti to maintain their perfect Euro 2020 qualifying record.
“It wasn’t our best performance, but we fought hard, we worked as a team and showed that we have the refusal to give up in our DNA. That can take us far,” Insigne told Rai Sport.
“It’s a big responsibility to wear the Number 10 jersey for Italy, but I’m trying to turn that into enthusiasm and work with my teammates to make it go well.
“Bosnia had taken the lead, but this team wants to win every game. We achieved it, we go into the summer break with these three points and a wonderful sensation.”
Insigne is becoming increasingly important to the Azzurri, as he also found the net in Saturday’s 3-0 win away to Greece.
“I am at the disposal of the Coach, who is putting his faith in me. I try to help the team, scored two goals in two games, and now can’t wait for a vacation, because in a month it all starts again.”
