Aurelio Andreazzoli has officially terminated his contract with Empoli and is now free to take over at Genoa.
“Empoli FC announce that the contract with first team Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli has been terminated by mutual consent,” read a club statement.
“We send the Coach our deepest thanks for the work he has done and wish him all the best in his future sporting and professional endeavours.”
The 65-year-old had taken over in December 2017 and took Empoli to promotion from Serie B, but was sacked in December 2017 and recalled six weeks later, by which point it was very difficult to secure Serie A safety.
In the end, the Tuscans went down thanks to an inferior head-to-head record with Genoa.
