Roma have asked Inter to include Mauro Icardi as part of an exchange deal with Edin Dzeko, claim Sky Sport Italia, after Manchester United refused a Romelu Lukaku swap.
It is well known that the Nerazzurri are close to securing centre-forward Dzeko and value him at €13.5m.
Sky Sport Italia transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio suggests this evening that Roma enquired about Icardi as part of the negotiations.
Inter have made it fairly clear they no longer want Icardi around after months of tension, controversy and the decision to strip him of the captaincy.
The Nerazzurri had pointed towards an exchange with Juventus for Paulo Dybala, but that idea didn’t sit well with Dybala.
Icardi is holding out, but could change his mind if there is the threat of effectively leaving him on the sidelines for an entire season.
All this has badly damaged his reputation and price-tag, so Inter are trying to get him off their books.
Sky Sport Italia also claim Inter offered Icardi to Manchester United in exchange for Romelu Lukaku, but the Old Trafford club refused.
