Roma are reportedly ‘optimistic’ about keeping Chris Smalling after they offered Manchester United another loan with €14m obligation to buy.
According to Il Tempo, talks have not stopped between the two clubs through Smalling’s desire to stay at the Olimpico.
The newspaper goes on to write that Roma are proposing another season-long loan for €3m with a €14m obligation to buy next summer.
That would take the Giallorossi’s total outlay for the defender to €20m, including the €3m they paid United for a dry loan last year.
The Red Devils wanted €25m for the 31-year-oldbut recently brought their demands down to nearer the €20m mark.
