Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali claims Jeremie Boga will remain at the Mapei Stadium beyond the summer: “We intend to keep him.”
Boga joined Sassuolo on a permanent deal two years ago, but Chelsea retained an option to buy the Ivorian back at a later date.
Yesterday, The Blues waived their option in exchange for first option on the player but reports in Italy claimed Juventus have since entered the race.
CEO Carnevali, who still must sort out the contract situations of several members of staff, including the sporting director Giovanni Rossi and coach Roberto De Zerbi, has reassured fans that the Neroverdi are planning with Boga in the squad.
“Boga has grown a lot and we must give credit to our coach De Zerbi,” Carnevali told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “We intend to keep him.
“We don’t want to give him up because we will continue the project that Dr. [Giorgio] Squinzi had in mind.
“I believe Boga will wear the Sassuolo shirt again next year.”
