The statistics going into the Round of 16 decider with Atletico Madrid are not reassuring for Juventus, as they’d have to set several firsts to qualify.
The first leg ended 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano and they meet in Turintonight at 20.00 GMT.
This would be a difficult situation to recover from for any team, but in this case there are quite a few historic pointers to make it even tougher.
For a start, Juventus have lost the first leg of a European Cup or Champions League tie 2-0 on five occasions and were always eliminated.
They need to win this second leg 2-0 just to force extra time and an away goal from Atleti would make it significantly tougher.
Yet the Colchoneros have kept five consecutive Champions League clean sheets, although that was preceded by a 4-0 away defeat to Borussia Dortmund on October 24.
Atleti are unbeaten since a 3-1 La Liga match at home to Real Madrid on February 9, followed by five straight competitive wins, all of them with clean sheets.
Juventus have faced Atletico Madrid three times and are yet to score a single goal, as they lost both away fixtures 1-0 in October 2014 and 2-0 last month.
The only previous encounter in Turin ended 0-0 in the Champions League group phase in December 2014.
