Chievo boss Domenico Di Carlo slammed the ‘scandalous’ decisions and ‘stronger forces’ that cost his side a result against Bologna on Monday.
Chievo lost 3-0 to Bologna, with the Rossoblu profiting from two penalties, although both looked soft on first glance, while the VAR did not intervene for either.
“I’m not talking about VARs and referees, I go home quietly,” Di Carlo told Sky Sport Italia.
“I sleep peacefully, I let others judge the work of officials. My team had chances to take the lead, but then there are stronger forces than us…
“Look at our recent matches and all the decisions that have gone against us. It’s scandalous..
“We’ll go on like this. We lost 3-0 in a game we did well in regardless. It’s a heavy result, but I won’t give up now.”
There was a young flavour to the Flying Donkeys XI, with starts for Mehdi Leris, Sofian Kiyine and 18-year-old debutant Emanuel Vignato on the left wing.
“We started with Vignato, Leris and Stepinski, there were four boys from the youth sector,” he explained.
“We needed a bit more pace. We didn’t get into the final third enough, but we never lost distance. Bologna had two shots.
“During the game we put on two strikers because we thought we could change gear. Until the hour mark we had the only real chance with Bani.
“But I repeat: playing football is one thing, seeing penalties that don’t exist is another. I liked Vignato, he showed great character.”
